Sisters collect recyclable once a week at Sarah Community to live out their commitment to Laudato Si'.

  Laudato Si’ and community empowerment

School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) living at The Sarah Community, Bridgeton, Missouri, were spurred to action after watching the film, The Letter, and hearing a talk by Sister Maxine Pohlman on Laudato Si'. Sisters organized themselves into one of three groups: Prayer, Education and Action. Sister Judith Herold reflects on how the three groups are living out Laudato Si’ and emphasizes the value of community in responding to the ecological crisis - by joining together, supporting and working toward solutions. Learn more about how SSND are empowering their community and view a short video on our webpage.

  SSND reflects on gratitude

As School Sisters of Notre Dame, gratitude is at the heart of SSND spirituality and is expressed beautifully in lived experiences. From reflecting on God's abundant graces, to appreciating SSND community, to finding joy in the natural world, these perspectives highlight the multitude of reasons to be thankful. With Thanksgiving around the corner, SSND reflect on gratitude, inspiring an attitude of thankfulness, not just during this season, but every day.

  National Vocation Awareness Week 2023

National Vocation Awareness Week (NVAW) is celebrated annually in November to promote vocations to ordained ministry and religious life. This year, NAVW is November 5-11. School Sisters of Notre Dame North American Vocation Team hosts activities online and in person to educate youth and young adults about discerning God's call. They partner with schools, parishes and others to connect with those in discernment. SSND invite everyone to consider what they can do to raise awareness of religious vocations during NVAW and beyond.
