Remembering Sister Giovanni

In 1964, Sister Giovanni Gourhan, affectionately known as Sister G, began a summer program for students to engage in crafts and recreation. Her passion to help underserved youth continued to inspire growth in the program and, in 1967, Sister G founded the Guadalupe Alternative Program (GAP). In 2019, GAP merged with Change Inc., an organization with a similar mission and vision. The executive director of Change Inc., Jody Nelson, Ed.D., LMFT, is the 2022 Women’s Leadership Luncheon speaker in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Nurturing gifts builds stronger faith

Ann Kampeter’s (left in the photo) relationship with the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) dates to her childhood parish, St. Thomas the Apostle in Jefferson City, Missouri. Ann believes the sisters inspired her to be charitable and give selflessly. She shared, “The [sisters] gave so much to me that I just want to give back.” Ann is the presenting sponsor for the 2022 Women’s Leadership Luncheons and shared her story in a podcast interview.
