Past, present and future of St. Mary of the Pines

The School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) Central Pacific Province are in the process of moving from St. Mary of the Pines in Chatawa, Mississippi, to St. Anthony’s Gardens in Covington, Louisiana. St. Mary of the Pines will have been in operation for 146 years once the transition is complete later this year. That’s 146 years worth of stories and memories to share. “Hopefully, the goodness and peace experienced here have been carried to others in an ever-widening circle,” says Sister Lorraine Landry.

Cultivating diversity through education

The Women’s Leadership Luncheons in March will focus on the importance of diversity. One ministry that exemplifies the importance of diversity and helping those in need is the Good Counsel Learning Center’s Refugee Outreach Program located in Mankato, Minnesota. Sister Richardé Marie Wolf, coordinator of the Refugee Outreach Program, states, “I love everyone who comes in. It’s so intercultural and the students are so hungry to learn, day after day.”
