Diversity awareness month

In October, join the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) in recognizing and honoring diversity awareness month. Since 1833, SSND have committed to helping children and adults from all walks of life reach their fullest potential. Sisters work together to proclaim the good news, directing their entire lives toward that oneness for which Jesus Christ was sent. In March 2020, the Women’s Leadership Luncheons will focus on diversity with topics like, “Developing a culture of diversity and inclusion.”

Mother Caroline Friess, School Sisters of Notre Dame’s American foundress, carried the dedication to Christ as the Vine with her to Elm Grove, Wisconsin. She asked before her death, in 1886, that a grape arbor be planted as a pathway to the cemetery as a reminder of our call to “remain in Christ.”

Foundation Day for the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) is October 24. In honor of our foundress, Blessed Theresa, enjoy a small glimpse of the difficult trip she made with three other sisters, to establish SSND in North America. The trip was long and difficult and things did not get any easier after their arrival.
