What matters is that in all you serve God not as much as you want but as much as is possible for you.
- Blessed Theresa Gerhardinger, Letter 2, September 30, 1823
As a 26 year old young woman, Blessed Theresa Gerhardinger, foundress of the School
Sisters of Notre Dame, understood that she was the woman God called in the world of
the early 19th century—from the small town of Stadtamhof, Bavaria to the growing
cities of immigrant America. Together, we are the men, the women, the children and
the families God calls to act in the smallest of neighborhoods, the most complex of
cities and the broad horizons of the global community.
