Reflections on Jubilee 2022

This year's theme for Jubilee 2022 is We respond in Love. As the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) constitution, You Are Sent, states, “Jubilees are cause for special celebration and provide opportunity for renewal and recommitment. Jubilee calls us to express our gratitude to God and to our Jubilarian sisters for their faithful love which encourages us to greater fidelity.”

Join SSND by honoring the Jubilarians and enjoy reflections from sisters celebrating this year.

Sister Genevieve CassaniSister Gen Cassani, a 60-year Jubilarian, created the design for the 2022 Jubilee. She shared, “I think it is a time of grace remembered - big moments and little in my life that have kept me humble, grateful and growing. Humbled at all the kindness I have received from people I know and those I don’t. That’s Jubilee grace! I am grateful for our mission of oneness, my sisters in community, who gifted me, challenged me, loved me in my lowest moments when it was difficult to love myself. That’s Jubilee grace! Growing into a deeper understanding of this magnificent universe and our call to care for Earth and every being in it. That’s Jubilee grace! To put it simply, Jubilee is grace remembered.” Read Sister Gen’s profile to learn more about her ministries.

Helen Jane Jaeb, SSNDSister Helen Jane Jaeb, provincial councilor and a 50-year Jubilarian, shared, “Jubilee time is a reflection on how my life as an SSND has gifted me over these 50 amazing years. I have been called to use gifts I have and those I never dreamed I had. Even with the challenging times, I would not trade my years as an SSND. I have lived and ministered with sisters and others, all who have blessed my life in many ways and helped me grow deeper into whom I am called to be as a SSND. I truly have reasons to celebrate.” Read Sister Helen Jane’s profile to learn more about her ministries.

Sister Carol Jean HechtSister Carol Jean Hecht, a 50-year Jubilarian, shared, “Celebrating Jubilee is a joy. It is a joy to look back at 50 years of living as a School Sister of Notre Dame. I am grateful for allowing God to do His work through me. God is good! As our family grew, my dad used to always tell us, “We are blessed,” and that is something I see every day in my life as a School Sister of Notre Dame. I will never forget that I am blessed.” Read Sister Carol Jean’s profile to learn more about her ministries.

Sister Guadalupe ValdezSister Lupe Valdez, a 50-year Jubilarian, when asked what Jubilee meant to her, shared, “The thought of celebrating Jubilee brings many different feelings. The strongest emotion is that of gratitude, to God and my community of sisters. Being a School Sisters of Notre Dame has given me opportunities that I had never imagined would be possible. I have been called to serve in ways and places I would not have chosen on my own. I have been challenged to risk and have been supported along the way and I am most grateful.” Read Sister Lupe’s profile to learn more about her ministries.
