We are excited to share the new School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) podcast - Called to Action! Called to Action was created for you to get to know the SSND Central Pacific (CP) Province, by providing riveting interviews on what sisters stand for and how they live out the mission. SSNDCP focuses on these five areas to fully live out their mission: Care of Creation, Immigration and Refugees, Human Trafficking, Gospel Peace and Nonviolence and Racial Justice. These topics will be the main themes of each podcast season as we take a deeper dive into the meanings behind them. Hear from sisters, associates, staff, heads of SSND ministries and leading community experts to give you more insights into these important topics.

Our podcast will be released in seasons. Called to Action: Season 1, available now is focused on Care of Creation. sisters, staff and speakers from the 2021 Women’s Leadership Luncheons share how we can all participate in protecting our Earth. Exciting topics like farming, limiting plastic use, urban planning and why we should care about the Earth, were covered in this season.

In our first episode of Season 1, Tim Dewane, director of Shalom - Justice, Peace and Integrity (JPIC), talked about what Care of Creation is and what it means to the SSNDCP. He talks about the idea of Care of Creation extending to more than just caring for the environment, “If we are going to care for one another, then we also by definition and extension, have to take care of the planet upon which we live.”

Other episodes include Sister Jan Gregorcich talking about the SSNDCP affiliated ministry, Global Partners Running Waters and how through relationships and helping gain access to water, we are able to grow within our understanding of the world. Dr. Marissa Jablonski, Ph.D., executive director of the Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin and speaker for the Milwaukee Women’s Leadership Luncheon, talks about how a failed international engineering project taught her about global outreach. We also hear from Lauren Peterson, director of Living Earth Center in Mankato, Minnesota, who explains the creation of the garden, founded by SSND, and the ongoing need for the community garden.

As a supporter of the sisters' work, you will not want to miss Called to Action. Episodes range from 15 to 45 minutes and will enrich your life with knowledge and grow your capacity for taking care of the Earth and the people around you.
