“Graced Leadership: Women’s Unique Response to Urgent Needs”

Featured Speaker: Mayra J. Thompson, M.D.
Professor, Women’s Center, University of Texas at Southwestern Medical Center

The 2022 Women’s Leadership Luncheons feature courageous, compassionate women role models. Mayra J. Thompson, M.D., is the featured speaker for the Dallas luncheon. Mayra J. Thompson, M.D., is a professor in the Women’s Center at the University of Texas at Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in general gynecology, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery. Dr. Thompson is trained and certified in advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures.

Dr. Thompson obtained her bachelor of arts in economics from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, a doctorate in medicine from the University of Illinois School of Medicine, Chicago and completed her internship and residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Illinois Hospital at University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago.

She is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. She is a member of several professional associations including the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the Texas Medical Association, the Dallas County Medical Society, the Southwestern Gynecologic Association and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.

Dr. Thompson is currently active in the following medical centers in Dallas: Clements University Hospital, Medical City of Dallas Hospital, Parkland Health & Hospital System and Zale-Lipshy University Hospital.

Dr. Thompson speaks fluent Spanish and has a special interest in the health care needs of the Hispanic community.
