Sister Gail Patrice Graczyk took her final vows as a School Sister of Notre Dame on Saturday, May 8, 2021

Sister Gail Patrice Graczyk took her final vows to the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Notre Dame of Elm Grove, Elm Grove, Wisconsin. The celebration was attended by the provincial council and a small group of friends. Sister Anna Marie Reha, provincial councilor, shared, “It was such a joy to be together in the chapel to celebrate Sister Gail Patrice’s vows. In thanksgiving, our voices rang clear as we sang the words of the closing song, “Laudate Dominum, we praise you!”

Sister Gail Patrice first joined SSND as an aspirant right out of eighth grade in 1965. After many changes throughout her life and that of the Church, Sister Gail Patrice stepped away from her vowed life as an SSND. However, she stayed close friends with many sisters and after many years found herself called to join the SSND associates in their endeavors. In 2012, Sister Gail Patrice said she, “was feeling more ‘nudgings’ that told me this was not enough. It became clearer that God was calling me to come back home to SSND.”

Between 2015 and 2021, Sister Gail Patrice served as informational technology support, hospice volunteer, technology instructor and liturgist in conjunction with her SSND call to ministry all in the Milwaukee area. When asked what aspect of SSND life was most attractive, Sister Gail Patrice shared, “I was, and I believe I still am, an educator. I spent over 42 years in the classroom and while that might not be my current platform, I believe we all continue to teach by our words and our actions.”

After taking her final vows, Sister Gail Patrice is excited for her next steps. When the sisters relocate to Trinity Woods on the campus of Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, Sister Gail Patrice said she will be looking for a new ministry. She shared, “I would love to return to working with technology, either teaching or with IT support.”

Sister Gail Patrice shares these words of wisdom, “Listen to God’s ‘nudgings.’ Be faithful to who you are and know of God’s precious love for you! Never forget YOU ARE LOVED!”
