COVID-19 vaccines for SSND
OLGC
The School Sisters of Notre Dame are excited to share that sisters living at Notre Dame of Elm Grove (NDEG), Elm Grove, Wisconsin, Our Lady of Good Counsel (OLGC), Mankato, Minnesota, and Sancta Maria in Ripa (SMR) in St. Louis have received their full COVID-19 vaccines. There are many sisters living in ministry and care facilities who are fully vaccinated as well.
SMR
Approximately 140 sisters and staff received their second vaccine Friday, February 19 and 22, 2021 at NDEG. OLGC also received the second dose on February 19, vaccinating roughly 245 sisters and staff, including a priest who regularly visits to provide Mass and other essential services. Finally, on March 9, 2021, SMR administered their second dose to 76 sisters, three Priest celebrants and 45 lay staff.
Sister Debra Sciano, provincial leader, shared, “We are so thankful to everyone who worked to secure vaccines for the School Sisters of Notre Dame. At the same time, we recognize that this is the first step in a long process to achieve immunity for our sisters. In the interim, sisters will continue to vigorously practice the CDC guidelines of wearing masks, social distancing and frequent handwashing. The School Sisters of Notre Dame continue to pray that all may have access to the vaccine very soon.”
