COVID-19 vaccines for SSND
The School Sisters of Notre Dame are excited to share that sisters living at two of its campuses, Notre Dame of Elm Grove (NDEG), Elm Grove, Wisconsin, and Our Lady of Good Counsel (OLGC), Mankato, Minnesota, have received their first COVID-19 vaccines.
OLGC
Approximately 140 sisters and staff received the vaccine Friday, January 22, 2021 at NDEG. On Monday, January 25, 2021, OLGC vaccinated roughly 245 sisters and staff, including a priest who regularly visits to provide Mass and other essential services.
Sister Debra Sciano, provincial leader, shared, “We are so thankful to everyone who worked to secure vaccines for the School Sisters of Notre Dame. At the same time, we recognize that this is the first step in a long process to achieve immunity for our sisters. In the interim, sisters will continue to vigorously practice the CDC guidelines of wearing masks, social distancing and frequent handwashing. The School Sisters of Notre Dame continue to pray that all may have access to the vaccine very soon.”
