COVID-19 inspires staff member at NDEG
Maria Tagliavia is a receptionist at the Notre Dame of Elm Grove Campus (NDEG) in Elm Grove, Wisconsin. She has been working with the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) for one and a half years. Her days usually consist of greeting visitors, from contractors to colleagues to sister’s relatives. She also answers the phones and has daily chats with sisters. Those chats often which ends up being a big part of her days. She is motivated to be the best she can be and by the idea that she has the ability to make just one sister’s day a little brighter.
Recently, with the COVID-19 pandemic, her job roles have changed dramatically. She now takes the temperatures of all who enter the campus, including 40-50 co-workers. She is proud of the work the NDEG campus receptionists, housekeepers and kitchen employees have done to help the nurses keep all residents safe.
She says her “motivation has changed to making sure all residents stay safe and healthy, in any way I can.” She loves working for SSND, and said, “I have never worked with such an intelligent, well-educated, kind and caring group of residents.”
