School Sisters of Notre Dame Central Pacific Province Receives Grant
from Catholic Community Foundation of Milwaukee
Grant will support expenses associated with the health care costs of retired sisters

Milwaukee (February 3, 2023) – The School Sisters of Notre Dame Central Pacific Province (SSND) received a grant from the Catholic Community Foundation of Milwaukee to support expenses associated with the health care costs of retired sisters in the Milwaukee area.

Currently there are more than 150 SSND living in the Milwaukee area. More than half of those sisters are retired, nearly 50 require fulltime nursing care. In December 2021, retired SSND moved from their longtime Elm Grove location to Trinity Woods, an intergenerational living community on the campus of Mount Mary University providing private residences for the retired sisters, lay seniors and undergraduate Mount Mary single mothers and their children under the age of 12.

“The SSND Resource Development Office raises funds for sponsored ministries and the needs of retired sisters,” said Mary Kay Murray, Director of Development. “The sisters have given so much to their community over their lifetimes, it is heartwarming that the community continues to support them in retirement. This grant award from the Catholic Community Foundation will help offset the cost of caring for our retired sisters. It is deeply appreciated.”
