Donors provide athletic field for Guam school

The Notre Dame High School Royals in Guam now have an athletic field to call their own. The field constructed on school property provides a sense of ownership, gives students home field advantage and boosts school spirit and pride.

During Notre Dame’s accreditation process in 2011, the accreditation team from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) recommended the creation of a multi-purpose sports field on which Notre Dame physical education students and Independent Interscholastic Athletic Association of Guam (IIAAG) athletes may practice and compete. The field was made possible through the generosity of Al Ysrael and Tanota Rentals, along with other donors Duenas, Camacho & Associates, Hawaiian Rock Products, and the Camacho Family Partnership.

The grand opening and blessing of the Ysrael Athletic Field was held on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015. Al Ysrael and his family, along with the companies responsible for the construction of the field, the School Sisters of Notre Dame, parents, alumni and student body took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. After the ceremony, an inaugural game between Ysrael grandchildren and Notre Dame soccer players was held.
